Hey everybody today, we are going to talk about stress and yes, it’s something that plagues everybody, especially with what’s going on in the world right now. So I’m going to give you a couple really helpful hints that you can do on a daily basis in order to help manage stress, whether it’s work stress, whether it’s financial stress, it might be relationship stress.
It could even be, you know, health stress. There’s lots of different things that can add up over time and lead to stress. But if we can get those under control, it’s only going to help you out. So stay tuned for some really helpful hints. my name is dr. Ryan Carlson. I’m a wellness expert and I’m a neurological based chiropractor here at deep roots health center in Bentonville.
And we are just South of rainbow curves. So, we’re one of a few neurological based chiropractors here in Northwest Arkansas, which means that we do really specific care done with an instrument. Right. I can get down to the millimeter as far as where I need to adjust. And coincidentally, that’s really, really good for managing stress.
But first, what I want to do is show you some things that you can do at home. Some really simple things in order to manage stress. And then if it’s still giving you trouble, you can absolutely set up an appointment with us here at the office in order to look at stress and how we can help you out with that as well.
But one of the main things that you need to be doing right now, especially with everything going on in the world. Is actually limiting the news. And I want to tell you why, because when you hear negative things over and over and over again, you know, even if they’re not affecting you directly, you know, maybe it’s a story about something negative that’s happening in another state or even in another country.
What the research shows is that it actually increases your cortisol levels, which is just constantly negative things that are coming after you. ultimately your cortisol levels go up and your immune system function goes down. It actually leaves you more susceptible to something like a virus or sickness or something along those lines.
So I always say CNN, it stands for certainly negative news CNN. So it’s one of those things where if you’re listening to the news and getting those negative things on a daily basis, ultimately what’s going to happen is your cortisol levels are going to go up. Your immune system function goes down and that’s no boy, no for everybody.
So that’s point number one, point number two with stress. It’s honestly, to take some quiet time, some point throughout the day. I like to do it. First thing when I wake up in the morning, because then that way I can ultimately kind of set the tone for my own day, rather than having to respond to what somebody else needs a me first thing in the morning, but it takes some quiet time.
At some point during the day. I don’t care if it’s 10 minutes, maybe it’s 15, maybe it’s 20. There’s all sorts of different meditation apps out there that can help you out with this. one is called Headspace where there’s, you know, free meditations that you can do on a daily basis. There’s another one called calm, and there’s some meditations that you can do on there as well.
So maybe it’s, you know, some guided help with that. Maybe it’s something like prayer, just taking some quiet time, making a cup of coffee, some point throughout the day and reading a book, whatever it is. Take some quiet time throughout the day. And kind of reset the tone for the rest of your day. It just helps them manage stress tremendously.
When you can just slow down for a short period of time and kind of redirect your focus to what you need to be accomplishing throughout the rest. So the day, and then again, if you’ve tried those things and it’s just not working and you’re still dealing with quite a bit of stress, We can absolutely help you out as well here at deep roots.
So we do really specific care focusing on, the nerves directly. And when we stimulate those nerves, particularly the nerves on the very top part of the brain, those are the nerves that help out with things like anxiety, help out with things like worry, even things like, mental fatigue and brain fog.
But the other thing that stress does is it affects all the muscles along your body as well. So of course, when you’re stressed those muscles of the neck and of the, of the shoulder regions, the traps, you know, those get really, really tight and they get taught. And what can happen then is you’re going to be in those muscle aches and pains.
Your shoulders are going to round forward, and it’s just going to mean a whole world of issues for you. Not only in the time being. But also down the road. So again, if I can help you navigate that, I’d be happy to do that at our office. We do a really specific set of X rays for the first visit in the practice, if they’re necessary for your case, because we actually go through a range of motion, have you bend your head forward and backward as we take the films and it shows me which segments are moving properly, as well as which ones aren’t, it just gives me the best idea moving forward, how to help you out.
So if you’re looking for the best chiropractor in Northwest Arkansas, the best chiropractor in Bentonville, You just found them, Dr. Ryan Carlson. I can’t wait to take care of you here in the office. We will see you guys soon.
